Tank Level

Deterministic calculator for a horizontal cylindrical tank. Enter tank diameter + total capacity, then set a measured height to get liters and %.

Inputs are in cm and liters. Slider uses mm internally for smoothness (auto-scaled to tank diameter).

About

Circular segment

We derive the tank length from total volume and diameter: L = V / (πr²).

For a liquid height h (from bottom), the filled cross-sectional area is a circular segment: A = r²·acos((r−h)/r) − (r−h)·√(2rh − h²).

Then volume is V = A·L and we convert m³ → liters.
